There are lots of great Halloween cookie cutters available
such as cats and ghosts, pumpkins and witches as well as other
scary things, and this Halloween cookie recipe is fairly easy
to make, and sure to please the kids, so why not have a go
? And if your Halloween cookies need eyes a piece of currant
placed in position before baking works well.
Recipe Ingredients
2 cups (8oz) all-purpose flour
4oz superfine sugar
4oz soft margarine
1 egg
¼ teaspoon baking powder
A pinch of salt
Halloween cookie cutters
Baking parchment (optional)
A baking sheet
Preparation and cooking instructions
Begin by greasing or lining a cookie sheet with baking parchment,
and then preheat the oven to 350ºF. Next put the flour
into a mixing bowl together with the baking powder and a pinch
of salt. Then in a separate bowl cream (beat) together the
margarine with the superfine sugar until pale and light, like
whipped cream. In another smaller bowl beat the egg; then
little by little, beating well after each addition, add about
half of this to the creamed butter and sugar mixture. Now,
gradually stir in the flour and mix well - the dough needs
to be stiff enough to cutout. Next flour a suitable surface
or board and a rolling pin, and rollout the dough fairly thinly.
Now take a Halloween cookie cutter, and dipping it into flour
as you go, cut the biscuit dough into spooky shapes. Next
place the cookies a little apart onto the prepared baking
sheet and bake for about 15-20 minutes or until pale and golden.
Leave the Halloween cookies to set a little before lifting
onto a wire rack. Have a great Halloween!
