Lemonade

Recipe Ingredients

The rind and juice of 1 lemon
2 teaspoonfuls of sugar, to taste
Half a pint of boiling water

Lemonade Preparation

First wash the lemon well, ( If possible use an organic or unwaxed lemon). Next grate (shred) the peel of the lemon. Now pour a quarter of a pint of boiling water into a bowl and add the grated lemon rind, leave to infuse.

Pour the second, quarter of a pint of boiling water into a second bowl and add the sugar, stir to dissolve the sugar and when all the sugar has dissolved add the lemon juice.

Now using a strainer pour the contents of the first bowl (boiling water and lemon rind) into the second bowl and mix. Pour into a pitcher (jug) allow to cool and then put in the refrigerator until needed.
Lemonade tastes best when very cold.
